A DOGGIE BAG: Packing for Travel with Your Dog

Packing for any trip can be overwhelming, but when you'll be traveling with your dog it can add another layer of stress. The good news is that after the first few times, it gets a lot easier! We've been camping for years with our dogs and I've got my list down so that I know just what I need, with just a few tweaks each time.

10 Ways to BOOST Your Metabolism Without Killer Workouts!

When it's super hot out during the summer, the last thing that I want to do is a strenuous workout - especially outside. I don't want to cut calories, but I don't want to gain weight either. How can I give my metabolism a boost?

That's what I had in mind when I started researching different ways to give myself a boost this summer when it's not even the DOG DAYS yet and the heat is already getting to me!

I know that walking the dogs is a good boost, but I wanted to know more! Here's what I found:

Frozen Blackberry Mojito Pops: Recipe

Sometimes you just need a drink. Sometimes you even need a drink in the morning! That was me this morning... but before I move forward let me say that no birds were harmed in the making of this post.

Last night I decided to use some fresh blackberries that I bought to make a mojito - one of my favorite cocktails - only I decided to pour the drinks into ice pop molds to make an icy treat! Of course, before I posted about them, I had to let them freeze, take photos of the finished product and make sure they turned out as delicious as I thought they would... Fast forward 14 hours and I can tell you - they are AWESOME!

Yes You Can: Wear Denim Cut-Offs!

I love jeans. I love jeans in the winter, and I love jeans in the summer. When it's hot outside, sometimes I cut my jeans off and I wear them as shorts.

That is certainly nothing new, and it is uber trendy to wear cutoff denim shorts. (Either again, or still, I'm not sure which.)

I've noticed, though, that there is a significant difference between how I look in cut-off shorts and a t-shirt (ummm... sloppy? frumpy?) and how some other women look in cut-off shorts and a t-shirt! (cool, hip, laid back, chic)

It's easy to let style go by the wayside when it's so hot outside that you feel like you could melt, but pulling yourself together when you're going casual doesn't take much! A little effort goes a long way. A great pair of sunglasses, a floppy hat, super cute sandals, a great bag, or a lightweight scarf are all options that you can rock with cut-off shorts to pull things together a bit without looking like you've tried too hard.

You CAN wear denim cut-offs and still look chic. Take it from these lovely ladies!

Berry Buckle Recipe: A Sweet, Simple, Summertime Dessert!

I love June, simply for the abundance of ripe berries that you can buy almost anywhere for a song. Sometimes I get a little carried away and buy more berries than we can eat! Before they turn, I like to bake up a batch of muffins, a pudding, a cobbler, or a cake like this simple buckle.

It's super easy, whips up in a flash, and is a perfect thing to serve guests on a hot summer day. Just add a dollop of whipped cream or iced cream to top it off!

Beach bound? Then you need to see this bag!

If you're headed to the beach this summer, you definitely need to see the Riviera Beach Bound Bag! This bag is perfect for a visit to the beach, pool or for a picnic.

The bags are created in Madagascar by a #fairtrade collective of 5 workshops in the region of Manjakatompo. The raffia is purchased by the collective and dyed then shaped and woven. All of the plants used are sustainable and literally no two bags are alike. This bag is so beautiful! It's a bit large for the farmer's market, but it's absolutely perfect for the beach! It can easily hold a beach blanket, plenty of magazines and drinks, and much more!

Not only can you use it all summer at the beach but the bag will make a perfect place to store your summer gear for the off season. (think swimsuits, snorkel, beach toys, etc.)

What?!? Are 3D-Printed Fabric & Accessories REVOLUTIONIZING Fashion?

I'm fascinated with 3-D Printing. I recently had an opportunity to sit next to a professor in the Department of Science & Engineering at the University of Minnesota at a reception banquet where we discussed a few of the amazing applications of 3-D printing. It's revolutionizing healthcare, manufacturing, and education, but not once did fashion or home decor enter the conversation.

A short time later, I learned about a new application for 3-D printing that - in my opinion - will revolutionize the fashion industry!

Fashion designer Pauline van Dongen and architect Behnaz Farahi have looked to nobles’ clothing from the 16th and 17th centuries as a point of inspiration for their 3D-printed work - and you've got to see it to believe it!

Fun Reads for Summer Days

We just returned from a long camping weekend of doing absolutely NOTHING! It was one of the best, most relaxing times I've had in a long time. Because the bugs were so bad, we spent a lot of time inside our cozy new camper. We took down the table and made the front are of the camper into one big lounge area. There were tons of soft throw pillows and cushions involved and we did a lot of talking, a lot of laughing, and I did a lot of reading.

Before we left, I stocked my kindle with lots of new chick lit books, but I started with an old one that I hadn't read yet with a sequel of sorts being released tomorrow. I'm talking about Crazy Rich Asians and China Rich Girlfriend by Kevin Kwan!

Usually I have a bit more variety and include some mystery, historical fiction, or even some non-fiction, but today - it's all about those easy chick-lit books for summer. Enjoy!

Happy Camper Makeover: More Before & After Pics

I wanted to share a few more before & after pictures of the camper makeover that I featured in yesterdays post.

One of the things that I can't stand is when you see before & after pictures - and the photos are from different angles or of a different area completely. Well, I tried not to do that, but as I put together this post I had a terrible time trying to match things up! I guess I should have paid more attention when I was taking the pics in the first place!

Putting together these side by side image collage has been a blast for me. Taking time to sit back and look at the before and after pictures really validates all of the time and effort I put into this rehab!

The day has FINALLY come when I can say that the overhaul I started six weeks ago on our new camper is done!

Working on the camper has truly been a labor of love. It was all about bringing a bit of myself and Dave into the "sweet home away from home" that will be the start of so many new memories for us! That said, LABOR would be the key word. The whole project took a lot more time and effort than I expected. Here are a few of the highlights. (and low lights...)
