5 Ways Fitness Can Boost Other Areas of Your Life Too

I read a while ago that when you want to lose weight, the food you eat is much more important than exercise. So I pretty much stopped exercising. Makes sense, right? If it doesn't really help me lose weight, and it pretty much sucks, then why do it? Well, I'm starting to figure that out. Here are some big reasons I've come up with to make fitness a priority.

The Beauty of Pysanky at Easter: Ukranian Decorated Eggs

One of my newest obsessions is PYSANKY. What is Pysanky? To put it simply, it is an Easter egg decorated using a wax resist (aka batik) method. Its name derives from the Ukrainian verb “pysaty,” meaning “to write.” (“Pysanka” is the singular form; “pysanky” is plural.)

But it is much more than that. Ukrainians have been decorating eggs - creating these miniature jewels - for countless generations. There is a ritualistic element involved, magical thinking, a calling out to the gods and goddesses for health, fertility, love, and wealth. There is a yearning for eternity, for the sun and stars, for whatever gods that may be.

Simple, On the Go Treats: Honey & Cereal Nut Bar Recipe

from marthastewart.com
When I saw this recipe today on the Martha Stewart blog, I knew it was a "keeper" because #1 - this type of bar is like crack to me, I love them so much. #2 - they are incredibly quick and easy to make. #3 - even though they aren't exactly HEALTHY, they are better than the candy bars or cereal bars that you buy in the store.

A Whole New Chalk Rock! Art with Liquid Chalk Markers

I remember when I was a young girl, I would look for white rocks that I could use to "write" on our blacktop driveway and I called them "Chalk Rocks". As an adult, I am what some might call a rock hoarder! We camp on Lake Superior and I come home after every trip with tons of stones that I've collected. My favorites are the black rocks that are worn smooth by the lake. They are abundant and I have a ton of them.

Don't Take Decorating Too Seriously! 22 Seriously Unserious Homes

I swear, if I see one more professionally decorated room online that has white walls, a white and black moroccan rug, (you know the one...) and a fiddle leaf fig in the corner, I'm going to throw up!
Are all of these rooms beautiful? Of course they are! The one that I pictured above has much more personality than most... and I do ADORE that turquoise sofa. But do they all have to basically look the same? I can't wait for a new trend to come along in home decor. One that has colored paint on the walls. One that has some character and features rooms that celebrate the people that inhabit those walls.

Can You Dye Microfiber? YES! My Shibori Experiment

Let me start by saying that I'm no expert on Shibori. I am certain that this appears to be Shibori-like, but it is not actually Shibori by any means... My inspiration for this post is this beautiful duvet set from Anna Joyce Design that I am head over heels for!

I want this duvet set SO BAD, but at $120 (pretty reasonable, yes!) I can't quite rationalize it, so I thought I'd try to see if I could do a similar design myself using a microfiber duvet set that I received from an amazon.com seller at a discounted price for review. I paid $1.20 for it and received free shipping. I paid another $5.00 or so for the dye, so for under $10.00 I thought I'd give it a shot! Here's what I ended up with.

Buy Me Once Shopping // The New Way to Spend

CREDIT: HEATHCLIFF O'MALLEY
I recently came across a newly launched website and I knew I had to share it. It's called BuyMeOnce. BuyMeOnce finds and promotes products that don't break the bank, don't break the planet... that don't break at all! They also challenge manufacturers to break their habits and build stuff that really lasts.
