Homemade Banana Ice Cream w/ Yummy Mix-Ins!

I'm sure you've all seen how to make homemade banana "ice cream" by now... You blend frozen bananas in a food processor until they are creamy and enjoy! It's a great way to use up bananas that are over-ripe and makes a healthy dessert that is both creamy and delicious!

Today I stumbled across some mix-in ideas for frozen banana dessert that I HAD to share! Both easy and so yummy I can't wait to try them all.

Banana Ice Cream
A simple and healthy frozen banana dessert with some special mix-ins to make it even more awesome!

  • 1 ripe, frozen banana
Peel and slice the banana into small pieces. Put in a freezer safe container and place in freezer overnight.When you're ready to make "ice cream" put the frozen banana slices into a food processor and blend until creamy, scraping the sides as needed.Blend in mix-ins, either using the food processor for a smooth consistency, or with a spoon for a chunky dessert. If you prefer a soft serve consistency, you can go ahead and enjoy! If you like a harder ice cream, return the mixture to the freezer until it reaches the desired consistency.

Mix-Ins for Banana Ice Cream
Make your homemade banana ice cream even better with the addition of these healthy ingredients.

  • Honey & Sea Salt 1/2 Tbsp honey and a pinch or two of sea salt, to taste 
  • Toasted Coconut & Chocolate 1/2 Tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder and 1 Tbsp toasted coconut flakes or shreds 
  • Almond & Date a few almonds roughly chopped, 2 dates finely chopped, a dash of cinnamon 
  • Peanut Butter & Chocolate 1 Tbsp all natural peanut butter and a few dark chocolate chips
