I want to live a healthier, longer life. Who doesn't, right? But it's not always easy to do the right things - eating right, exercise, and making sure that you and your family have everything you need to make those healthy choices!

The products that you put on your skin are as important as the food that you put in your body. Finding a good skin care line that is free of harsh chemicals and preservatives that actually works is totally golden. I'm happy to a new line of anti-aging products from Silk Therapeutics that is not only totally CLEAN but it's super luxurious! They use pure, natural silk in liquid form to produce a wonderful product that is perfect for all skin types, but especially perfect for those who have the most sensitive skin.

I consider myself to be extremely fortunate, (most of the time) to live in Minnesota, where we seem to feel a stronger connection to nature than many other places - especially in the Minneapolis area where, for an urban community, we are fortunate to have so many parks and lakes.

Today I mourn the passing of a Minnesota music legend. Prince Rogers Nelson passed away this morning at Paisley Park. This man's music touched my life in a unique and profound way. The lyrics to one of his most beautiful songs, Sometimes It Snows In April, follow.

If you're a regular reader of "A Beautiful Little Life" you know that I am working to become more GREEN. Not just in the posts that I share, but in a very real way through the way that I live my life. I try to share resources with you when I can, and I've shared resources for green beauty, organic foods, and so much more. As Earth Day approaches, I have been thinking about what else I can do; what the next step is for me to clean up my act.

Swapping soda for a pressed juice. Choosing whole-wheat toast over white bread. Grabbing a fiber bar before a tough workout. These seem like smart, healthy choices, right? Then why is it that the fiber bar leaves you with a bloated midsection or the juice (yes, the one with all the fruits and vegetables!) has you feeling sluggish? Turns out sometimes eating good-for-you food can cause some unpleasant side effects if you eat too much or aren't careful with when and how you consume them.
If you find yourself gassy, tired, or puffy around the middle, take a peek at what's on your plate—it could be that one of these 20 foods ahead is the culprit.

If your thumb could use a little greening, like mine, any tips you can get on how to bring some life to your living room are much appreciated. I recently discovered indoor-gardening expert and Isabelle Palmer, and her book The House Gardener, and I'm happy to share some of her inspiration for miniature gardens anyone can master.

I have, in my lifetime, owned 3 burgundy colored station wagons/hatchbacks. Same color and same body style. Why would anyone do that? Because for me, the thought of having SO MANY cars to choose from is overwhelming and I'd rather walk. Finding a color that I liked and a style that met my needs freed me from having to make any additional decisions!
