Hack Your Mornings / / SELF-CARE SATURDAY

Just the other day I was telling you about the book "Design Your Day" by Claire Diaz-Ortiz and today I want to tell you about one of the sections of the book that is having the greatest impact on my life. It's the HACK YOUR MORNINGS section!

The Difference A Little Sunshine Can Make!

Here in Minneapolis, it's a cold, sunny day! The first extended sunshine (more than a few minutes) I've seen in quite a while. It has given me exactly the boost I needed right now! Yesterday afternoon we had about an hour of sunshine and I took the dogs for a walk around the neighborhood. You'll never believe it, but I actually saw a neighbor washing their car in their driveway in a t-shirt and jeans. That's BAR COAT! Only in Minnesota...

DO IT! Design Your Day by Claire Diaz-Ortiz

When a book comes along that really makes me stop and think, I always want to share... and Design Your Day by Claire Diaz-Ortiz is definitely one of those books!

The days go by so fast - in the blink of an eye it's 2016 and it seems that I'm no closer to my goals than I was a year ago. How does that happen? And how do I keep it from happening this year?

Clear Your Cluttered Closet the One Suitcase Way!

Ugh. It's the middle of January and for the last month (okay - 3 months) I've lived in a daily uniform of sweatpants or skinny jeans with a white men's t-shirt and a cardi or hoodie. It's time to make a serious change and shake up this winter wardrobe slump! I have a closet full of nice clothes, but I tend to "SAVE" them for those occasions when we go out. That means I wear something nice once a week - maybe twice.

A simple google search will direct you to hundreds of articles online that walk you through the seven steps to properly clear your closet. In fact, I wrote a post about my own CLOSET OVERHAUL here!

Muffin Makeover with Greek Yogurt and Whole Grain Oats

I LOVE muffins. Muffins for breakfast, muffins for an afternoon snack, muffins for a bedtime snack. They are delicious and CAN be nutritious too! My favorite muffin recipe has Greek yogurt and whole oats, so it fills me up and keeps me full!

This basic recipe can be modified to any flavor you want. My choice this week was a tart cherry muffin, but in the past I've made it with coconut and chocolate chips, blueberries and almonds, and more! You change the flavor by adding your choice of flavored yogurt and your choice of mix-ins!

Don't Let A Snowstorm Take You By Surprise!

This post brought to you by SnowCast. The content and opinions expressed below are that of A Beautiful Little Life.

Here in Minnesota, we know that bad weather can sneak up on you. It can start snowing heavily, seemingly out of nowhere, snarling traffic and making it difficult to get where you need to be.
I'm fortunate to be able to work from home, but my husband has a 45 minute commute (each way) and it can take much longer when weather is a factor. If he knows that a storm is coming, he can sometimes make arrangements to get out early so that he can beat the storm.

69 Books I Read in 2015 & Which Ones Were My Favorites!

It's so cold outside that I am actually freezing INSIDE! I haven't been feeling the greatest, so maybe that's why. I really can't complain because I haven't exactly left the house since... I think it was Thursday! Or maybe even WEDNESDAY!

So I'm holed up with a few good books. (The Road to Little Dribbling by Bill Bryson, coming out next week and Good at Games by Jill Mansell)

I am a voracious reader and I thought I'd share some of the books that I've read in 2015 with you. If you're looking for something to read during this ridiculous cold snap, these are all available online for immediate download!

Emergen-C® Chewables TO THE RESCUE!

The holidays are the most wonderful time of the year - without a doubt - but the airplane travel, the shopping in crowded stores, the parties... they all expose us to germs that we aren't normally exposed to! We all need to practice good self-care and give our immune systems the support that they need.
I've used Emergen-C for years to take extra special care of myself when I felt like my immune system needed help, but during the busy holidays I don't always have time to use Emergen-C. I'm so happy to have found Emergen-C Chewables® for those times!

5 Simple Tips for Health and Self-Care in 2016

HAPPY NEW YEAR! I'm feeling energized and ready to go after a nice, long break during the holidays with my family. It was just what I needed!

Instead of making New Years Resolutions for 2016, we spent time talking about 2015 and the things that we DID RIGHT. We bought a camper and spent more leisure time together enjoying nature. We visited our doctors and took care of our medical needs. (Often in the past those physical exams didn't happen!) We adjusted to life with just the two of us and my dear hubby cut back on his hours at work - making his quality of life better!
